About the event
We are delighted to be collaborating for this silver workshop with Yorkshire artisan jeweller Hannah Weston. Hannah who’s work has been featured in Tatler, has partnered with John Lewis, uses modern and tradition techniques to craft unique silver jewellery - each one of her collections has an individual meaning.
Spend 3 hours learning the traditional, time honoured skills needed to create your very own sterling silver ring or sterling silver bangle. With 17 years teaching experience, Hannah will guide you through the process of designing and creating a beautiful piece of jewellery that you can take away with you that very same day.
If you select the ring workshop you have the option to create 1 chunkier silver ring band or 3 silver stacking rings. If you select the bangle workshop you have the option to create 1 chunkier bangle or 3 stacking bangles. All pieces can be personalised with texturing hammers and the chunkier pieces can be stamped with letters, runes and images - let your imagination run wild.
During the workshop you will learn how to:
⬡ Size your ring or bangle
⬡ Cut, file, sand and polish your metal to create a beautiful piece of jewellery
⬡ Use a jewellers torch to anneal metal and solder your piece together
⬡ Use texturing hammers or metal stamps to create unique designs
You’ll leave the workshop with:
⬡ A piece of jewellery ready to wear
⬡ A complimentary cleaning cloth and (if you make a ring) ring sizer
Other important bits and pieces:
⬡ This workshop is suitable for beginners
⬡ All tools, materials and refreshments are provided
Workshops start at 10am and finish around 1pm.

Jewellery making can be a messy business so it is recommended that you wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty, you might want to bring an apron with you. Long hair should be tied back and closed toed shoes should be worn. If you usually wear reading glasses, it’s a good idea to bring those too. You might want to prepare for the workshop by looking at design ideas on Pinterest or Google.
